Meet singer-songwriter GA EUN, signed to Most Works, she is an up-coming K-artist re-defining the RnB genre. With her debut EP ‘WALNUTFUL’ which was released on the 4th of April, 2020, GA EUN self-reflects, poignantly sharing her thoughts from times when she “suffered from, the conflicts between the reality, ideals that [she has] faced in life, and values formed while growing up”
What are your earliest memories of music?
When I was young, I used to play the piano and sing songs at church. So music has always comforted me and made me feel at peace.
What inspired you to create music?
Most of all, I get inspiration from my experiences. I usually take notes on my phone when I come up with ideas.
What three words would you use to describe your sound?
Sympathy, New, and Voice
What is the story/message does the single “Stop It! (생각을 멈추는 생각을 멈춰)” from your new mini-album “WALNUTFUL” convey?
“‘WALNUTFUL’ is an album created from the thoughts that I’ve suffered from, the conflicts between the reality, ideals that I’ve faced in life, and values formed while growing up.
I think people live with complex minds and too many thoughts. I sometimes want to stop thinking. However, in order to do so, you have to think about the process of ‘not thinking’.
I thought other people might have similar experiences, so it would be fun to make a song with this idea. I hope people listen to this song and they feel carefree like back when they were young and naive by stopping thinking in this tough world.”
What artists inspired the overall sound of your new mini-album “WALNUTFUL”? single“Stop It! (생각을 멈추는 생각을 멈춰)“?
I got inspiration from my favourite musicians rather than certain artists for this album. For example, The 1975, Moonchild, and Frank ocean.
Do you have a message for fans/ new listeners?
I think it is really important to love yourself. In this album, I focused on how to love myself rather than finding love in relationships.
I hope my music can comfort many people who have the same experiences as me. Thank you for listening to my music - I will be making and singing more warm-hearted songs!
